Your dentist sends your case
Your dentist sends us a referral along with any X-rays, scans or photos they already have, and notes on what you have discussed together.
Cedar Falls, IowaD.D.S., DICOI, FMIII
The Iowa Dental Implant Institute is the implant practice of Dr. Ryan Weaver, D.D.S. If your dentist has referred you here, you are in the right place. Dr. Weaver plans every implant on a 3D scan before surgery and works with your dentist from start to finish.
If your dentist referred you
Your dentist and Dr. Weaver work on your implant together. You will know the plan before anything is done.
Your dentist sends us a referral along with any X-rays, scans or photos they already have, and notes on what you have discussed together.
Our office contacts you to set up a consultation. Dr. Weaver goes over your medical history, examines the area and takes a 3D scan if one is needed.
Before surgery, Dr. Weaver reviews your case with your dentist so the two of them agree on the plan for your implant and the tooth that goes on it.
Why guided
Guided surgery takes the guesswork out of placement. The key decisions are made before you are in the chair.
What that means for you
Before your surgery, Dr. Weaver combines a 3D scan of your jaw with a digital impression of your teeth and plans exactly where the implant will go — its position, angle and depth — in relation to the teeth beside it and the teeth it bites against.
That plan becomes a custom 3D-printed surgical guide that fits over your teeth, so the implant goes where it was planned. There are fewer surprises in the chair, and less time in it: the practice’s own figure for a typical guided placement is around ten minutes, with very minimal invasion.
Your implant dentist
Dr. Ryan Weaver took his Doctor of Dental Surgery at Creighton University and has completed several advanced-level, multi-year courses in implantology since.
He is a Fellow of the Resnik Implant Institute and of the California Implant Institute, and a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He has owned and run Grundy Center Family & Implant Dentistry for over a decade.
The equipment behind it
Every implant is planned on a 3D cone beam scan and a digital impression of your teeth, and your surgical guide is designed and printed in our own office rather than sent out to a lab.
A 3D rendering of the jaw, used to measure bone volume and the position of the sinus and the nerve rather than estimating them from a flat radiograph.
Intra-oral scanning, and the digital impression that is merged with the CBCT to build the implant plan.
In-office printing of surgical guides, temporary crowns and dentures. The guide does not go out to a lab and come back a fortnight later.

For referring dentists
Both start with the same thing: a CBCT, an intraoral scan and a plan. The difference is who places the implant.
You send the patient. Dr. Weaver plans it and places it, and the restorative side goes wherever you say in the notes — back to you, or handled here.
You send the scans. We do the digital treatment plan, you approve it, and we print and ship the guide. You keep the case start to finish.
